CFA Volunteers Beautify Pomona

Saturday, May 12 marked the 12th Annual Pomona Beautification Day, where communities came together for a special one-day event to spruce up and celebrate the city of Pomona, CA. Hundreds of volunteers signed up for 33 city-partnered projects including street clean ups, tree planting, painting and various projects at Pomona Unified Schools.

This year, 15 volunteers joined the Children’s Foundation of America to freshen up Lincoln Elementary School Community Garden. CFA volunteers, including members of Upland High School Key Club and Mt. SAC Alpha Gama Sigma, helped plant succulents around the parking lot, pull weeds and plant beets in the garden. After the project, volunteers were invited to harvest vegetables to take home, including kale, lettuce and mint.

Beautification Day wrapped up with a fun celebration at the Pomona Civic Center Plaza, with a performance by the City of Pomona Youth Orchestra, booths with various organizations, including CFA and Trinity Youth Services and lunch provided by Lily’s Tacos. Volunteers who participated in the event also received a free ticket to the Los Angeles County Fair!
