Trinity Classic Raises over $105,000 to Support Children in Need
The Children’s Foundation of America hosted the Trinity Classic Golf Tournament on October 23, raising over $105,000 for children in need for the second consecutive year. HUB International presented the 2017 Trinity Classic, contributing $80,000 in support of the event.
Approximately 150 supporters teed-off for a cause at South Hills Country Club in West Covina. Each year, the Trinity Classic features golfing, raffles, and a chance to win $10,000 at a helicopter ball drop. Supporters participated in a day of purposeful play and enjoyed the tournament theme, “Fiesta ‘Fore’ a Better Future,” which featured a mariachi band serenade, an all you can eat taco lunch and a Mexican dinner buffet.
“The funds from today’s purposeful play help to ensure that children from even the most traumatic circumstances receive everything they need to succeed,” said Children’s Foundation of America’s Executive Director, Cher Ofstedahl, to participants. All proceeds from the Trinity Classic went to CFA partner Trinity Youth Services to support children who have faced the trauma of abuse, neglect and abandonment.
Winners of the 2017 Trinity Classic
The tournament’s 1st Place went to the team from Image Source, one of the Foundation’s generous partners, with 2nd Place taken by the team from partner, Sysco Riverside, and the team from presenting sponsor, HUB International, came in 3rd Place.
The golf tournament was just one way to win, as an additional 24 winners received prizes that took them on vacations throughout California. One prize included a trip to local island paradise Catalina, while the other prizes whisked winners off to cultural hub San Francisco or on a tour to sample the wines of Northern California’s award-winning vineyards.
One of the most exciting events of the Trinity Classic was the helicopter ball drop, which drops a bucket of numbered golf balls onto the green. The ball closest to the hole wins and its owner receives a $10,000 grand prize. This year’s winner, Gil Quinbar, is the Campus Director of Trinity Youth Services Yucaipa, and he immediately donated half of his winnings back to Trinity Youth Services.
